Viet Nam needs to focus more on developing feedstocks and production of intermediate goods, especially in terms of human resources, to enable its industrialisation, experts have said.
Vietnamese companies, many of whom are facing a shortage of feedstock and raw materials as a result of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in China, have started looking at alternative sources.
India is strong in fibre and yarn production and Viet Nam is dependent on import of feedstock for its textile industry, and so they could both benefit by co-operation.
Though Viet Nam remains a big importer of textile feedstock and accessories from China, its rising exports to China is a promising sign, according to the Viet Nam National Textile and Garment Group.
